What You'll Do:
- Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging individual and group activities that support the cognitive, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social well-being of adult day center participants and memory care residents.
- Develop and facilitate comprehensive programming including music, arts and crafts, games, sensory activities, exercise, outings, educational events, holiday celebrations, and special events.
- Complete activity assessments and individualized activity plans while monitoring participant engagement, progress, behaviors, and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members during care plan meetings, family meetings, case conferences, and quality assurance initiatives to enhance participant quality of life.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to activity staff and volunteers, including assisting with volunteer recruitment and training.
- Coordinate center-wide events, decorations, entertainment, and community outings while maintaining safe, organized, and welcoming activity spaces.
- Assist with additional program services as needed, including transportation support, participant dining assistance, and maintaining CPR/First Aid certifications and required trainings.
- Drive the community van for recreational outings and assist residents with safe transfers on and off the vehicle.
What You'll Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in recreation therapy, gerontology, social work, therapeutic recreation, or a related field preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in adult social programs, senior living, adult day services, recreation, or memory care preferred.
- Experience and/or specialized training working with older adults and individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia preferred.
- Activity Professional Certification, CPR certification, and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with participants, families, staff, and volunteers.
- Energetic, dependable, and self-motivated team player who can effectively manage dementia-related behaviors in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending English.
